Income and Employment: Both Recovering in South Carolina

Personal income, which includes both payments from government sources and wages, has been on the rise since the end of 2009. While employment has wavered earlier in 2011, it is slowly recovering as well. Compare sources of personal income on our comparison charts to see how much has been coming from wages, investments, or government sponsored programs. 

Housing Prices and Construction Still Down

South Carolina's housing market has been steadily trending downward. Prices have fallen since before the top of the market in 2007, while permits and construction seem to have hit the bottom. A turn around in the housing market would go far in restoring confidence in the economy.
